Gilmour Junior Earns Perfect ACT Score on His First Try
Linghan (Andy) Zeng ’27 has achieved a remarkable academic milestone — earning a perfect score of 36 on the ACT the very first time he took the exam.
Zeng attributes his success to experience taking other standardized tests coupled with his Gilmour education.
“This was indeed the first time I took the ACT specifically,” Zeng explained. “Although you could say I had gotten lots of practice with other standardized tests, like the PSAT, the ISEE and the SAT, which I took in June. My experience with these tests served as a very strong foundation, so in a way all the things I did for those tests were the core of my preparation.”
He also credits Gilmour’s academic environment — particularly its rigorous math program — and his love of reading for sharpening his skills.
“Of course, the math courses at Gilmour, along with me being an avid reader, also helped,” he said. “I did also take Gilmour’s practice tests for the ACT both this year and last year.”
While he hasn’t yet decided what he will study in college, Zeng knows his future lies in the world of numbers and problem-solving.
“I am not quite sure exactly what I will study in college yet, but I know I am interested in the mathematical and physical side of things. Maybe engineering?”
Zeng’s achievement is a testament to his curiosity, discipline and the strong academic foundation provided by Gilmour’s faculty.
