On Thursday, the Gilmour Networking Breakfast welcomed Andrew Frawley and Karen Hostoffer as featured presenters to talk about their involvement and experiences with Zelie's Home. Zelie's Home is a place where expecting mothers who have no support in their lives can come and be part of a caring community that empowers pregnant and parenting women to take positive control of their lives.
Andrew serves as the Board Chair of Zelie’s Home and he and his wife, Amita, are parents of Lizzy '23 and Katherine '25. Karen serves on the Board of Directors and she and her husband Robert have had five children attend Gilmour - Alex '05, Vincent '07, Nick '09, Sarah and Zach '15.
For many of the women who come to Zelie’s Home, Karen observed, “This is the first time that they have received love and kindness without any expectation of someone wanting something back from them, other than to see them do well. We just want to see them succeed.”
The discussion of their personal experiences with Zelie's Home and the women helped by the organization was both touching and emotional, and truly moved those in attendance. It was definitely a meeting that you didn't want to miss.
The monthly Gilmour Networking Breakfast is held on the first Thursday of each month for all members of the Gilmour community. Although sponsored by the Men’s Club, it is by no means only for men. The Networking Breakfast is an opportunity to learn more about each other, our careers and interests, and to hear from people like Andrew and Karen sharing what they are doing in our community.
At our next Networking Breakfast, on December 4, our featured speaker will be current parent Steve Hawn, Senior Vice President & General Sales Manager, Content Sales with The Walt Disney Company. Steve and his wife, Mara, are new to the Gilmour community this year and are parents to Madden '27 and Makenzie '31. We look forward to seeing you there.
