Our educators build deep relationships, guiding students as teachers, mentors and partners in growth. Learning here happens through trust, high expectations and shared commitment.

Within this Upper School family, students engage in rigorous preparation, meaningful formation, and opportunities to lead and serve. By graduation, they are prepared for college and beyond, grounded in values, confident in their abilities, and committed to helping build a more humane and just society."

Academic Rigor
Gilmour’s intentionally small class sizes foster dynamic student–teacher relationships. Gilmour students write more, discuss more and speak more — building confidence as they discover their passions and maximize their talents. The Class of 2025 reflects the strength of this approach — students earned admission to 20 of the nation’s Top 30 colleges, according to U.S. News and World Report, with 90% accepted to their first- or second-choice school. These results underscore the academic rigor and personalized support that define the Gilmour experience.

Living the Mission
As an independent, Catholic school, Gilmour believes service is vital in developing the whole child. Students are required to give back to the community and each other in order to make the world a better place. By the time they graduate, the majority of seniors have exceeded the required number of service hours.

Community
The moment you step on Gilmour’s 144-acre campus, you can feel the palpable sense of community. Students, faculty, staff and parents come together to provide much more than an extraordinary educational experience — they provide a family.

144-Acre Campus
Gilmour’s 144-acre campus features cutting-edge facilities, including the state’s only molecular genetics lab in a secondary school; a state-of-the-art performing arts center; a student commons that rivals any college dining hall; and a greenhouse, chicken coop, apiary and gardens.

Experiential Learning
Gilmour offers academic extension programs that allow each student to confidently take charge of their educational experience. From international travel opportunities to internships in science and technology, semester-long social justice projects to a 40-hour Senior Project, and immersive service trips to the multi-year Vector program, Gilmour is your gateway to success in the real world.

Fine and Performing Arts
Gilmour’s Fine and Performing Arts programs rival most collegiate programs. The Lorraine and Bill Dodero Center for Performing Arts is a state-of-the-art theater where actors, dancers, musicians and production artists showcase their talents. And Gilmour’s trophy cases are filled with the accomplishments of our award-winning student illustrators, photographers, painters and orators.

Global Perspective
Gilmour is a home away from home to students from across the country and around the globe. Seventy boarders from 19 states and 11 countries bring the world to our campus. Here, cultural understanding isn’t confined to textbooks — it’s built through daily interactions, thoughtful dialogue and shared experiences that bridge continents. This constant interaction transforms cultural awareness into lived experience, allowing each student’s education to reach far beyond the classroom.

Digital Media Lab
Gilmour’s state-of-the art broadcast studio and digital media lab, coupled with our digital marketing and communications curriculum, allow students to pursue their interest in modern day media arts.

Community Block
Gilmour Academy’s Middle School offers a unique block in the middle of the school day. Twice a week, the Middle School holds Community Block in conjunction with the Upper School Community Block, greatly increasing the number of clubs and opportunities available for the Middle Schoolers. Additionally, students can use this time to participate in service, meet with teachers or pursue experiential opportunities. On the other three days of the week, students take either choir or band during this block.

Athletics
With 51 sports teams to choose from, Lancer Athletics has something for everyone. Our state-of-the-art facilities include two NHL-size ice rinks; an Athletic Center with a pool, basketball court, field house, fitness room and training room; a turfed outdoor stadium with lights; an all-turf baseball field; newly renovated tennis courts and softball complex; and a weight room where all students can work with our full-time strength and conditioning coaches. Gilmour student-athletes consistently compete at the state level and, on average, more than 20% of our graduates commit to participate in athletics at the next level, including at some of the top DI college athletic programs in the country.

Self-Assessments
For nearly three decades, Gilmour has used Self-Assessments as an alternative to the traditional parent-teacher conference. Each year, students in Grades 7–12 prepare and deliver a formal presentation to their parents, teachers and advisors, reflecting on their strengths and challenges. Rooted in Gilmour’s commitment to real-world preparation — alongside coeducation, block scheduling and a strong emphasis on public speaking — the Self-Assessment model builds essential skills. These presentations mirror real-world performance evaluations and equip students with a level of self-awareness and communication skills rarely developed in high school.

Elizabeth Frawley '23, Santa Clara University '27

"Classroom discussion was central to my experience. With small class sizes, every student was expected to participate, and no contribution was considered insignificant. This environment strengthened my confidence, especially in co-ed academic settings. When I entered college, I felt completely comfortable speaking in front of large groups and engaging in discussion...A Gilmour education is truly holistic, it develops students into confident, thoughtful, and courageous leaders. My experience at Gilmour shaped not only my academic success, but the person I am today, fostering growth far beyond the classroom."
