As an accredited independent Catholic school in Northeast Ohio, Gilmour Academy is unique in our ability to teach the whole child. Students are prepared—not just academically but also personally and spiritually—to discover the person they’re called to be.
Founded in 1946 by the Brothers of Holy Cross, Gilmour empowers students of all faiths to ask tough questions, think critically and grow spiritually. Through religious studies, social service and an emphasis on leadership, students from 18 months to 18 years emerge with a strong moral compass and sense of purpose, ready to apply their talents to making the world a more just and humane place.
75-minute, Socratic-style classes for deep engagement and mastery for students in Grades 7-12
The daily schedule for students in Grades 7-12 includes a daily community block where students have an opportunity to choose various clubs and activities. This 50-minute flexible-use block—inclusive of lunch—allows for off-campus experiences and co-curricular pursuits, meetings with teachers during office hours, engaging in physical activity at one of our athletic facilities, working on assignments in a study hall, and so on.
"I chose Gilmour because of its family-like community. Here, everyone is known and supported by the community to not only be themselves, but to use their talents to help lift and enrich the greater good. At Gilmour, I was able to find my confidence and discover my talents as a student and as a leader."
