Zeal is the great desire to make God known, loved, and served, and thus to bring knowledge of salvation to others. ... (Those) who are animated by this virtue will fulfill their duties with eagerness, affection, courage and perseverance.
- Bl. Basil Moreau, C.S.C.
November is upon us, which means it is time for us to focus our zeal and bring hope to others through the Br. Richard Keller Thanksgiving Food Drive! Whether serving as a chef, ministering to the sick or cheering on the GA athletic teams, Br. Richard, who served at GA from 1977-2014, modeled the eagerness, affections, courage and perseverance of which Basil Moreau speaks. Gilmour’s Thanksgiving Food Drive, named in his honor, encourages each of us to do the same.
As we come together to feed more than 300 families in need, we need your help! How will you live with zeal this year?
FILL THE BASKETS!
Students, faculty and staff will be bringing in the non-perishable food items, but we need your help to purchase the turkeys, potatoes, milk, bread and the baskets themselves. Make your donation below to help feed the hungry! Our goal to cover the cost of the perishable items is $10,500 ($35 per basket).
DELIVER BASKETS WEDNESDAY, NOV. 24
To ensure the safety of all involved, households (not groups of students) are invited to deliver food. Drivers will be assigned a time between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. to arrive at Pender Circle. Student volunteers will load the baskets into cars. Sign up to deliver food to families in need here!
Students delivering food with their families will earn two (2) service hours.
Distribute Food Wednesday, Nov. 24
Volunteer to load food into cars either at GA or at St. Patrick’s Hunger Center. Volunteers will be serving outside, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
St. Patrick’s Volunteers (10 students) will meet at GA at 8:15 a.m., be bused to St. Patrick’s to serve and will return to GA around 1 p.m., earning five (5) service hours. Sign up to serve at St. Patrick's here!
