Gilmour Academy students are expected to demonstrate mastery of a wide range of skills and knowledge prior to graduation, as expressed in the Gilmour Outcomes. They are expected to be people of hope on a journey of faith; reflective, analytical thinkers; innovative, resilient problem solvers; authentic, effective communicators; courageous, collaborative leaders; empathetic, engaged global citizens; and curious, resourceful lifelong learners. The Senior Project serves as the culminating expression of these outcomes.
As the high school experience draws to a close, each senior proposes a project of educational significance and does a deep dive into that topic over the course of their 40-hour project. The Senior Project is both a challenge and an opportunity — a meaningful, rewarding experience that broadens the mind. Past project topics have included the ethical treatment of animals in zoos, judicial bias and its impact on case outcomes, Cleveland’s appeal to the film industry, and a day in a physician’s operating room, among others.
Throughout the year, students receive guidance from advisors and mentors as they select and refine project ideas and plans. In the final weeks of school, seniors are excused from classes to focus fully on completing their projects, which culminate in a 20-minute project exhibition shortly before Commencement.

Students and faculty have developed custom software, Glave, to manage the Senior Project process. Questions about Glave may be directed to computer science instructor Mr. Dan Adiletta.
