Headed to: Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
Plans to study: Neuroscience
Fun fact: The class valedictorian, Brinn was also a four-sport varsity athlete and involved in extracurriculars ranging from National Honor Society and Cum Laude Society to speech & debate and service. Whatever the venue, Brinn was a leader. She captained Gilmour’s 2020 state champion volleyball team, co-founded the school’s gymnastics program, participated in John Carroll’s “Project Lead” Leadership Summit, served as a Student Ambassador, and led a team of students that raised $70,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
 

“The most impactful part of my Gilmour experience was meeting my best friends. The relationships I created over the last four years are ones that I am certain will last a lifetime. I am beyond blessed to have been a part of the Class of 2021 at Gilmour Academy.”

 
 
Headed to: Washington University in St. Louis
Plans to study: Neuroscience on pre-med track
Fun fact: A varsity tennis player and the class salutatorian, Jimmy received Gilmour’s Male Scholar-Athlete Award.

Headed to: Denison University
Plans to study: Exercise and Sport Science
Fun fact: Dre has made his mark on the basketball court and on the track and will continue to do so as a two-sport athlete at Denison, but his impact on the Gilmour community goes far beyond athletics. At the Senior Awards, he received one of the Director of the Upper School Awards. In presenting it to the winners, the Director said, “Most simply stated, Gilmour Academy is a better place because they were here.”
 

“I loved the Kairos retreat. It gave me the opportunity to meet new people I have never really been close with at Gilmour.”

 
Headed to: Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Plans to study: Computer Science, Data Science and Economics
Fun fact: Mollie is a National Merit Finalist, Gilmour’s 2021 Phi Beta Kappa inductee, a speech and debate national qualifier and a talented rower. She will be a member of the women’s lightweight rowing team at MIT. 
 

“The best part of Gilmour is, hands down, the people. The Gilmour community has embraced me with open arms, springboarding me to achieve my goals while simultaneously developing my character. The love and support that I have experienced have allowed me to reach further, dive deeper, and shine brighter in nearly all aspects of my life.”

Headed to: University of Southern California
Plans to study: Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and minors in Mathematics as well as Nonprofits, Philanthropy and Volunteerism
Fun fact: A National Merit Finalist, Eric’s involvement at Gilmour ranged from founding a service club on campus called Reach Out! to playing on the varsity soccer team, qualifying for nationals in speech and debate, completing Gilmour’s VECTOR program in business and entrepreneurship and so much in between.

“Through my involvement in In Reach Out!, I was able to foster my love for community through utilizing my privilege to better the world around me; and in Speech, I was able to grow my voice in a way to impact my peers.”

 
Headed to: University of Notre Dame
Plans to study: Science Pre-Professional Studies on pre-med track with a minor in Compassionate Care
Fun fact: Elizabeth completed Gilmour’s VECTOR program in science and medicine, which solidified her choice for a college major. A member of the varsity figure skating team, Elizabeth is a U.S. Figure Skating double gold medalist, the pinnacle of accomplishment in the sport. She received Gilmour’s Female Scholar-Athlete Award.
 

“The most impactful part of my Gilmour experience was the number of opportunities presented to me, from programs like VECTOR that helped me develop academically to the mission trips that helped me develop as a person.”

Headed to: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Plans to study: Environmental Health Sciences on pre-med track
Fun fact: Zach’s involvement ranged from serving as president of the Green Leadership Council to competing in speech and debate to completing Gilmour’s VECTOR program in science and medicine. He was a member of the varsity hockey and tennis teams and received Gilmour’s Male Scholar-Athlete Award. Zach was invited to be part of UNC’s accelerated research program and assured enrollment in the environmental science major, which students normally have to apply to during their junior year at UNC.

Headed to: Curtis Institute of Music
Plans to study: Cello Performance
Fun fact: Ania began playing the cello at age 6 and, today, is a member of the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Young Artists Program and plays in a quartet called Lumière. Just this year, the foursome has won the 2021 Chicago National Chamber Music Competition and the 2021 Rembrandt Annual High School Chamber Music Competition and placed second at the 2021 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.
 

“It was incredible to be back on campus for the first time after the pandemic and see how strongly the community worked together to get through such a hard time.”

 
Headed to: University of Rochester
Plans to study: Computer Science
Fun fact: Liam was awarded the University of Rochester’s Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology, which honors exceptional high school students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the pursuit of innovative approaches and an appreciation for the possibilities of technology.
 

“The most impactful part of my Gilmour experience must be the relationships I have formed with my teachers and peers ... These bonds were and continue to be a vital part of my Gilmour experience, and I am thankful to have had the opportunity to meet and learn from these incredible people.”

 
 
Headed to: University of Michigan
Plans to study: Art, Pre-Med and Psychology
Fun fact: In the midst of the pandemic, Maya combined her passion for art and medicine when she sold her art designs online and donated her proceeds to fund supplies and COVID-19 research at the Cleveland Clinic and to Rainbow Babies to use for their greatest need.
 

“The most impactful thing was making my Gilmour Family. They encouraged me to push myself and pursue my interests, and I will forever be grateful.”

 
Headed to: Soldotna, Alaska to play with the NAHL (North American Hockey League) Junior A Kenai River Brown Bears
Fun fact: A member of the Cum Laude Society, the National Honor Society and the Kairos Retreat Team while playing varsity lacrosse and serving as captain of Gilmour’s Prep Hockey team, Tanyon was a finalist for the 2020 Greater Cleveland Sports Awards Male High School Athlete of the Year and was the 2020 Male Nominee for the 850 ESPN Cleveland ESPY Awards.
 

“The most impactful part of my Gilmour experience was being able to meet lifelong friends from all over the world, and being able to develop into a better person through the Holy Cross teachings and traditions.”

Plans to study: Economics/Government
Fun fact: Yuqi (Larry) served as President of Gilmour’s International Club and was a vital member of the residence hall community, helping other international students acclimate to life in the dorm.

Plans to study: Forensic Chemistry
Fun fact: Cayla was one of 80 students selected for Ohio University’s Honors Tutorial College. This past summer, she earned the title of international runner-up in the World Schools Debate tournament.
