At Gilmour Academy, Speech and Debate empowers students to find their voices, think critically and communicate with confidence. Through a variety of competitive events, including Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum debate, Congressional Debate, Original Oratory, Extemporaneous Speaking and more, students learn to research complex topics, develop compelling arguments, think on their feet and engage thoughtfully with different perspectives. Open to Middle and Upper School students, the program provides opportunities for students at every experience level to grow as communicators, build meaningful connections and develop the confidence and leadership skills to make an impact beyond the classroom.
