We are thrilled to officially announce that Christina Lonergan Karna ’86 and Jim Rooney ’86 are the 2026 Gilmour Academy Alumni Man and Woman of the Year!

 

Christina has built a life centered on education, service and community impact. A varsity tennis player at Gilmour, she fondly remembers classes with Mme. Silbiger, Dr. Gray’s strict grammar standards and never missing a calculus quiz - even on Senior Cut Day. Christina is passionate about educational equality, helping to raise millions of dollars in scholarship support for students and families, serves as the Training Director for HiReformance Institute, and even with her life taking her around the world in the years since graduation, never misses a Lancer Nation Tour and remains close with numerous Gilmour friends and classmates. 

 

Jim credits Gilmour as a place that has helped shape his leadership, growth and sense of community. While at GA, he participated in football and served as vice president of the Student Council and was awarded the Gilmour Spirit Award as a senior. He is a published author, received the Lou Glucksman Business Leadership Award from New York University, and serves as the President of Rooney Consulting. He is the father of a fellow GA graduate, Jimmy ’14.
