Two Seniors Selected as School Winners in Heisman High School Scholarship Competition

The Heisman Trophy Trust announced this week their 2022 School Winners for the Heisman High School Scholarship. Congratulations to Matthew Bauman ’23 and Lyla Tsu ’23, who were both named School Winners from an applicant pool of thousands. The program states that it “extends the prestige of the Heisman Trophy to the nation’s most esteemed high school seniors by celebrating and rewarding outstanding male and female scholar-athletes who understand that the most important victories happen not only on the field, but also in their schools and communities.”

School Winners continue on for a chance to become State Winners, National Finalists or National Winners.

Matthew has earned High Honors and Honors throughout his years at Gilmour and received the Digital Media departmental award. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the Investment Club and Spirit Club. He plays on the varsity lacrosse team and is a two-year captain of the defending state champion varsity hockey team.

Lyla has earned High Honors each year, is a Head of School Award winner and is a member of the Cum Laude and National Honor Societies. She is a member of the girls prep hockey and varsity lacrosse teams, is involved with the SADD Club and serves on the Integration and Activities Committee in Murphy Residence Hall.
