Four Juniors Complete Look Up to Cleveland Program
For the past seven months, four students - Alexander Beedles ’22, Meghan Bhanoo ’22, Isabella Lasecki ’22 and Desiree Smith ’22 - have been participating in the Look Up to Cleveland program. They had to apply to the program, which was created to provide high school students with leadership development opportunities, give them a heightened awareness and appreciation of Cleveland and show them how they can contribute to their community.
The group met monthly from October to April, with each month’s meeting focused on a different theme such as Government Day, Arts and Culture Day and Neighborhood Day. Students also met in smaller groups outside of those meetings to work on projects and assignments. The program culminated with a final project called the Civic Vision Project, which asked participants to envision how they might improve a neighborhood in Cleveland. After successfully completing the program, the students were recognized in a special commencement ceremony last weekend. Congratulations Alexander, Meghan, Bella and Desiree!
