Over Fall Break, another group headed to Oberlin, Ohio. Upon arrival in Oberlin, the group explored the Freedom's Friends History Walk. The roughly two-hour presentation and walk began at the First Church of Oberlin, home of several famous leaders of the Second Great Awakening and Abolitionist movement. Students learned of the events and significance of the Underground Railroad, and the major role Oberlin played in the movement. The afternoon featured another walking tour entitled, "Civil War to Civil Rights." The Oberlin portion of the day finished at the Allen Memorial Art Museum, where the students enjoyed a Monet exhibit. After returning to Cleveland, the group volunteered at the FoodStrong garden, which was closing down at the end of the summer growing season and moving to another location for next year. It was a wonderful day combining service and learning.
