Girls Basketball Racks Up Wins Against HB and Laurel; Hillmon Sets Program Record for Points Scored in a Game with 36

The varsity girls basketball team improved to 18-3 on the season with its recent wins against Hathaway Brown and Laurel. On Senior Night against HB, it was only fitting that the team's leading scorers were the three seniors - Naz Hillmon '18 with 24 points, Emma Gurley '18 (pictured) with 17 points and Sarah Bohn '18 with 13 points.

On the road against Laurel, Hillmon went on a scoring rampage to help pull the Lancers out of a first-quarter deficit and go on to a 29-point victory. She totaled 36 on the afternoon, which set the new program record for points in a game. The previous record on file was 34 and was set during the 2015-16 season by Emily Kelley '17. Other offensive leaders that game included Gurley with 19 points and five 3-pointers, Annika Corcoran '19 with 10 points and three assists, and Bohn with nine points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals. Gilmour continues to rank No. 1 in the News-Herald Top of the Crop and the cleveland.com Top 25. The team is also No. 3 in the latest Associated Press Division II Girls Basketball Poll. As the No. 1 seed in the Lakeside District, Gilmour hosts the sectional finals on February 22 at 7 p.m. against the winner of the Lake Catholic-Harvey game.
