Gilmour Girls Prep Hockey Hosts Youth Community Skate

Led by Kaitlyn Larson ’27, the Gilmour Girls Prep Hockey team hosted a free community skate, giving kids who might not otherwise have the opportunity a chance to experience hockey. The event also featured a gear drive and fundraising activities, with all proceeds benefiting the JM Foundation.

Kaitlyn was inspired to support this foundation because of her own experiences growing up skating at Hollydell in New Jersey, where her longtime coach made a lasting impact on her at a young age. “This project is my way of giving other kids the same chance to fall in love with the game,” she said.

The team exceeded their goal of raising $1,500 to help kids who want to try hockey but lack resources, thanks in large part to bake sales and generous donations. Kaitlyn’s teammates played a key role in the event’s success, helping with setup, sales and overall coordination.
