Who Knew Learning Could Be So Much Fun?

Sixth graders enjoyed one of the most beloved Lower School traditions last week - the Potato Olympics! Students from the Multivariable Calculus class joined them to help record their data. Each student trainer created a Potato Athlete and each wrote their athlete’s original backstory. The trainers recited the Olympic creed and oath during the Opening Ceremonies before the athletes began competing in events such as slalom, vegetable roll, figure skating, curling, high jump, 400 cm dash, long jump, balance beam, and a new event, the special Pandemic Mask Relay. Each student trainer was careful to prepare the athlete for the rigorous afternoon of competition. The athletes were weighed and measured, predictions were made, results were recorded, and medals will be awarded to the student trainers for their hard work. The data will now be used to calculate various measures of central tendency, such as median, mean, mode and range, for each data set. Teamwork and sportsmanship made the day special for all participants.
