Developing Leaders, One Kairos Retreat at a Time

Educating the mind and empowering the heart extends far beyond the classroom. As juniors and seniors at Gilmour, students have the opportunity to grow spiritually and as leaders during Kairos retreats. A unique program at Gilmour Academy, Kairos offers a time to disconnect from daily schedules and spend time in reflection, prayer and conversation, examining what makes them unique, their relationships with one another and, ultimately, their relationship with God.

Kairos, which means a propitious moment for decision or action, or "God's time," is a time of transformation during which students move to a deeper level of faith and determine ways to apply their faith in real-life situations.

The first Kairos retreat of the 2017-2018 school year was held at the Loyola Retreat House in Clinton, Ohio and led by Zack Holtz '18, Pyper McDowell '18, Lauriel Powell '18, Peyton Rudman '18 and Lily Switka '19, alongside a host of faculty and staff.
