Boys Track & Field

The varsity boys track & field team won an OHSAA Division III District Championship at Cuyahoga Heights High School last week with a score of 120 points. It was the team's first district title since the 2014 season. Gilmour earned regional qualifications in the following events:
 
100: Dylan Henry ’18, Andre Rodgers ’21
200: Henry, Rodgers
800: Tim Diemer ’19, Henry-Claude Madiba ’18
3200: Tyler Clark ’19, Connor Gerspacher ’19
4x100: CJ Charleston ’19, Rodgers, Nick Majer ’18, Diemer
Discus: Andrew Sieminski ’18
Long Jump: Charleston, Rodgers 
High Jump: Sieminski ’18
 
These athletes will compete in the regional meet this week for the right to earn a bid to the state meet in Columbus. Rodgers (pictured) was the only male competitor from Gilmour to qualify in four events. Henry became the first male athlete in program history to win both the 100 and 200 at the district level all four years. Charleston also set a new school record in the long jump at 22 feet, 11 inches.
 
In other track news, Head Coach Jim Chappelle was just named North Coast League White Division Coach of the Year.
