Baseball Teams Continue Winning Ways

Varsity baseball finished the week 2-1 to improve its overall record to 12-8. The lone loss came at the hands of Cardinal Mooney in a 10-9 loss in extra innings. The first win was over Hawken 8-0 to claim a sectional championship, and the second was against Villa Angela-St. Joseph 10-0 on Senior Day. The Lancers were led by Ben DeMell '21 who threw seven complete innings, allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out 10 in the sectional championship game. He also went 4-for-4 for at the plate. He currently leads the team in batting average at .403, RBI with 20 and ERA at 1.38. In the Division II District Semifinal game last night, the Lancers defeated Lakeview 3-1. They now play today in the DII District Finals against Chardon at 5 p.m. at Jefferson Little League Complex.
 
The junior varsity baseball team had a 3-1 week with one win against Cardinal Mooney and two against Holy Name. The lone loss went to rival Mayfield. The JV team is now 12-4 as it enters the final week of their season.
 
The reserve team continued its undefeated season with wins against Stow, Lake Catholic and Brecksville. The team is now 9-0 on the season as it begins the final week of play.
