The juniors who are researching unjust wages and working conditions for their Praxis project partnered with the Peace and Justice Club to sponsor a fair trade dress-down day and Mother's Day Sale this week. Students across all three divisions who purchased fair trade bracelets earned a dress-down day today. To highlight the important issue of fair trade for our youngest Lancers, two members of the Praxis group - Hunter Fetterolf ’22 and Isabella Martin ’22 - put together the video below for the Lower School.

 

 

Through the Mother's Day sale, students could buy bracelets, potholders, coin purses or handmade baskets for their mothers and grandmothers. All items for sale are fair trade, made by artisans in Guatemala and provided through Mayan Hands.

 

The students sold more than $2,100 worth of fair trade items! Proceeds will be divided between Mayan Hands, to pay the artisans, and the InterReligious Task Force (IRTF), which works to support fair trade in Central America.
