International Club Hosts Chinese New Year Celebration

Gilmour's International Club hosted its annual Lunar New Year celebration last Friday in the Commons. The Lunar New Year, also called the Spring Festival, is typically celebrated in China and other Asian countries such as Vietnam, Korea, Laos and Singapore. It begins with the first new moon of the lunar calendar and ends on the first full moon, 15 days later.

The afternoon’s festivities included playing an ancient Chinese board game (which students can learn to play at the next Chess Club meeting!), enjoying dumplings handmade by Mrs. Du and other Gilmour parents, making Chinese lanterns using a unit circle and learning more about the Chinese zodiac (2020 is the year of the metal rat!). Our International Club members worked hard preparing the various station activities and a great time was had by all. Check out the pictures here.
