Gilmour Academy capped one of the most memorable seasons in program history by defeating St. Ignatius 5–2 at Nationwide Arena to win the 49th OHSAA Hockey state championship. The victory gave the Lancers their second state title (first since 2022) and avenged their only loss of the season, finishing the year with an impressive 36–1 record.
Teddy Frizzie ‘26 led the offense with two goals, while Ben Slifko ‘26 added a goal and two assists. Alex Lazuka ‘27 and Johnathan Primiano ‘26 also found the back of the net, and Donato Iacurci ‘26 made 32 saves in goal to secure the championship victory.
The Lancers fell behind early but responded with resilience, scoring twice in the final minutes of the first period to take control of the game before sealing the win in the third. Coach John Malloy praised the team’s commitment and unity throughout the season, noting the group set a “high bar” for the program.
Fueled by strong team chemistry and a shared purpose all season long, the Lancers finished their championship campaign on the biggest stage in Ohio high school hockey.
