Two Student-Athletes Sign NCAA Letters of Intent

Gilmour hosted a NCAA Signing and Commitment Ceremony today to honor two student-athletes signing NCAA National Letters of Intent.

February 7 is the first day of the signing period for soccer and Isabel Greene '18, of Lyndhurst, signed to play soccer at Division I University of Dayton. Greene has already earned 12 varsity letters as a Lancer – four in soccer, four in cross country, three in track and one in swimming. Her athletic accomplishments – in cross country, swimming and track, in addition to soccer – are too numerous to list. Her soccer honors began freshman year when she earned 2014 GCSSCA All-Cleveland Honorable Mention. She has amassed award after award since then. Some of the highlights include earning 2015 News-Herald and Cleveland Plain Dealer Soccer Player of the Week, 2015 and 2016 GCSSCA All-Cleveland Division III First Team, 2016 News-Herald Soccer Player of the Year, 2016 OSSCA All-Ohio First Team, 2016 NSCAA Fall Girls High School All-Central Region Team, 2017 GSSCA Division II Player of the Year, 2017 OSSCA All-Ohio First Team, 2017 United Soccer Coaches All-Central Region Team and, most recently, 2017 United Soccer Coaches All-American Team.

Greene is also Student Council President, National Honor Society Vice President, a member of the Blue & Gray Student Ambassador Club and the Baking Club.

At the University of Dayton, Greene plans to major in business. She said of her decision, I chose Dayton because the community made me feel like I was at home. Everyone that I met at UD was so happy! The soccer coaches and players were extremely welcoming and made me want to be a part of the program.”

Tyler Leroux '18, of Mentor, also participated in the ceremony to celebrate the commitment he made on the first day of the football early signing period in December. Leroux signed to play football for the University at Buffalo, but since Gilmour was on Christmas break at that point, a formal ceremony was not held.

Leroux is a four-year member of the football team and ran rack for one year. During his career at Gilmour, he earned First Team All-District in 2015, 2016 and 2017; was named to the News-Herald Third Team in 2015 and 2016; earned All-Ohio Special Mention in 2015 and 2016; was named to the News-Herald Second Team and All-Ohio Second Team in 2017; and received the Art Teynor, Lancer and Coaches’ Awards. He is ranked the 99th best tackle nationally and is the fifth-ranked offensive tackle in the state according to scout.com.

Leroux plans to study computer science at the University at Buffalo and says he chose the school for itscoaching staff, location and the education.”
