Groundbreaking Ceremony held for Figgie Field at Sharnsky Stadium
On Monday, we hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the brand new Figgie Field at Sharnsky Stadium. Matthew P. Figgie '84 and his guests, alums, members of the baseball program and Trustees gathered to celebrate this momentous occasion with the Gilmour community.
Matthew Figgie was joined by President and Treasurer of The Figgie Foundation Rick Solon, Secretary of The Figgie Foundation Brent Ballard, his representative Darrell Young, his publicist Sandra Stafford, Head of School Kathy Kenny, Director of Institutional Advancement Ray Murphy, Director of Athletics Sean O’Toole, Gilmour baseball head coach Jay Fowler '00 and Brian Sharnsky '09, son of legendary Gilmour baseball coach Ray Sharnsky, for a shovel ceremony. The group then heard remarks from Kathy Kenny,Sean O’Toole, Jay Fowler, Ray Murphy, Brian Sharnsky and Matthew Figgie.
The construction is expected to take about eight weeks and the field will be ready to go for Lancer baseball season this spring!
