Exciting Hockey Hires

The girls' prep hockey team has a new powerhouse duo at the helm of the program. Seanna Conway returns to Gilmour as our head coach and Middle School PE teacher and Lauryn Gillis will be serving as assistant coach and residence life proctor.

Seanna Conway has 20 years of playing experience and has coached for more than 15 years. She is a USA Hockey Level 4 Certified Hockey Coach, a NCAA Division I athlete and played for the National Women’s Hockey League. Seanna attended Gilmour and played on our boys varsity team before the girls prep team was in existence. She transferred her senior year to Ridley College in St. Catharine’s, Ontario and was the MVP on their women’s ice hockey team. She was a scholarship athlete at the University of New Hampshire, where she played goalie. She transferred to York University, completed her bachelor’s degree and was a two-time Academic All-Canadian. Seanna went on to play for the National Women’s Hockey League and for the Irish National Team.  While in Ireland, she earned a master’s degree in Irish studies from National University of Ireland and a LL.B  from Griffith College in Dublin. She then earned a LL.M from Brooklyn Law School. Seanna is a licensed attorney and has been working as the assistant prosecuting attorney in the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office since April 2015.

Seanna has coached the Ohio AAA Flames and Lady Baron’s AAA Association. Through these prestigious programs, she has developed a thorough knowledge of the female players in the Cleveland metropolitan area. Her passion for women’s hockey and her desire to attract and retain talent in this geographic region will certainly be an asset to our girls prep hockey program.

Lauryn Gillis is also returning to her Cleveland hockey roots. She brings a strong desire to shine a national spotlight on girls hockey in this area as well as assist players as they navigate the path to college hockey. Her love of the game and her desire to give back are what drew her to this opportunity. Hockey runs in her blood with a father and uncle who played professional hockey and coached at various levels. Her father also used to be the director of the Ohio Flames AAA organization, where Lauryn played. She went on to play four years at NCAA Division III SUNY Cortland as a forward. She served as an assistant coach this past season at SUNY Cortland, and, for the past several years, has worked various summer camps and clinics coaching both boys and girls.

Tim Veach begins this week as head coach of the boys varsity B team. He will also be working as a residence hall proctor. Tim has been coaching the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite AAA U10 team for the past four years and assisting with U14 teams for the past two years. Prior to that, he served as head coach and hockey director for West Alleghenies High School in Pittsburgh. Tim has a master's in instructional leadership and sports management from Robert Morris University and a bachelor's in journalism and mass communication from the University of Kansas.
