Unique Programming By Grade Level This Week

It was a week of hands-on learning this week as each grade level in the Middle and Upper Schools was treated to specialized programming.

The week kicked off on Tuesday with a Substance Abuse Awareness presentation for the freshman class, during which students heard from two recovering addicts, substance abuse experts who spoke about its lasting effects and legal experts who discussed online safety threats teenagers face as well as the legal repercussions of misusing online platforms.

On Wednesday, seniors engaged in College 101, during which they learned valuable information from professionals on topics such as legal rights and responsibilities, financial management, campus safety, mental health, life on a college campus and tips on how to be successful academically.

The juniors enjoyed Career Day yesterday, as they heard from a panel of alumni working in various fields (law, education, IT, healthcare and business) about their paths to these careers and the role Gilmour played in their journey. Students were able to ask questions and make connections with these alumni.

And Friday was a day of service for sophomores as well as the Middle Schoolers. Sophomores volunteered with their advisory at St. Adalbert's School, Bessie's Angels, Guiding Eyes, MedWish International, Malachi House, May Dugan Center, Kids' Book Bank, The West Side Catholic Center, Joseph's House and Habitat for Humanity. The seventh and eighth graders spent the afternoon on campus focusing on leadership and service as they worked with Lower Schoolers.
