Two Seniors Recognized as Students of the Year by LLS

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) “Students of the Year” campaign has come to a close and two seniors played a huge role in its success. Students of the Year is a seven-week fundraising competition and is a great opportunity to raise much-needed funds for research for those battling blood-borne cancers.

Meghan Bhanoo '22 and Ava Moe '22 sold handmade necklaces that each contained a custom message written in Morse code. Through their sales, the pair raised more than $10,000 for LLS, which will go directly toward research efforts!

Since 1964, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has been at the forefront in the battle against blood-borne cancers. Survival rates have been consistently growing since the 1960s and LLS has invested more than $1 billion to advance cancer therapies and save lives. Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are now approved to treat patients with rare autoimmune diseases. These new therapies are now also being tested for use in treating other cancers!

Congratulations to Meghan and Ava for their efforts to help find a cure!
