Upper School Science Teacher Earns Master’s Degree and Brings Lessons to Classroom

Congratulations are in order! Upper School science instructor Ms. Jessica Simonetta ’05 has earned her Master of Education degree in curriculum and instruction from Grand Canyon University. She spent more than 18 months working on the degree, which she says benefits her in her current role as a teacher while also preparing her should she decide to pursue an administrative role in the future.

Ms. Simonetta’s favorite part of the program was that it utilized cutting-edge technology and resources in order to teach best practices for today’s learners. She also enjoyed that the program focused on cultural responsiveness, noting that differentiated instruction has always been an important part of education as a way to reach different types of learners , but that this coursework also covered how to reach students of different backgrounds.

Ms. Simonetta said, “I learned so much about how to cater to the needs of my students and I feel like they have benefited already!”

Way to model lifelong learning, Ms. Simonetta!
