Team Me Movers Makes an Impact in Fight Against Blood-Borne Cancers

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) “Students of the Year” campaign has come to a close and several members of the Gilmour community played a huge role in its success. Students of the Year is a seven-week fundraising competition and is a great opportunity to raise much-needed funds for research for those battling blood-borne cancers.

Brinn MacLellan '21 spearheaded a team in the Students of the Year campaign in honor of her cousin, who was diagnosed with leukemia last year and is in the midst of a three-year recovery journey. Her team, Team MeMovers, includes four other members of the GA community - Emmy Klika '21, Meaghan Stack  '21, Hannah Weltle '21 and Ms. Clyde. The team’s mission was to make an impact on a national scale and that's exactly what they did. Together, they raised more than $69,000, which will go directly toward research efforts!

Since 1964, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has been at the forefront in the battle against blood-borne cancers. Survival rates have been consistently growing since the 1960s and LLS has invested more than $1 billion to advance cancer therapies and save lives. Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are now approved to treat patients with rare autoimmune diseases. These new therapies are now also being tested for use in treating other cancers!

Congratulations to Team MeMovers for your efforts to help find a cure!
