Two of Five Area STEM Scholarship Winners from Gilmour

This summer, two of our STEM superstars, Nina Padanilam ’22 and Meghan Bhanoo ’22, received word that they were among the five area students selected as recipients of The American Heart Association’s Lorraine Dodero STEM Goes Red for Girls Scholarship. The scholarship was created in 2019 with the goal of helping students interested in pursuing careers in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) field achieve their goals.

Mrs. Dodero said of the scholarship winners, “These five students, through their intellect and scholarship, are our future leaders in science, technology, engineering and math fields.” Executive Director of the American Heart Association Valerie Hillow Gates echoed the sentiment, saying, “These young minds could develop the research, technology and discoveries that will someday eliminate heart disease and stroke and ensure health equity in our communities.”

Each girl will receive a $5,000 scholarship, which will be held by The American Heart Association until Nina and Meghan select their colleges. The funds will be directed there upon enrollment. Congratulations to these incredible young women!
