Richard Barone '60

Gilmour Alum’s Museum of American Porcelain Art Featured on PBS  Ideastream’s “Applause”

Earlier this fall, Richard Barone ’60 hosted an event at his Museum of American Porcelain Art for members of Gilmour’s Blue & Gray Society. The museum is the first in the country dedicated to American-made porcelain art. It is housed in the building that was recently home to the South Euclid branch of the Cuyahoga Public Library, and, before that, was the home of entrepreneur William Telling.

The 26-room, 20,000-square-foot space holds nearly 2,000 pieces of American-made porcelain art as well as archived documents, film and correspondences that help tell the history of porcelain art in America.

Barone was recently interviewed for PBS Ideastream’s show, “Applause,” and it will air tonight - March 8 - at 8:30 p.m. on WVIZ/PBS Ideastream. It will air again tomorrow - Saturday, March 9 - at 4 p.m. and Sunday, March 10 at 12:30 p.m. If you aren’t able to see it on TV, you can access the interview on WVIZ's website.

The Museum of American Porcelain Art is open to visitors on Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. Visit the website to learn more about this cultural gem just around the corner.
