Boys Basketball Earns Sectional Championship before Losing in District Semifinals

The varsity boys basketball team began postseason play with a sectional championship as it defeated Akron’s East High School 67-48. CJ Charleston '19 totaled 22 points, five assists and three steals, while Dechlan Kirincic '18 (pictured) added 19 points, four rebounds and two assists. Connor O'Toole '20 had clutch shooting from long-range, which was key early in the game. He finished with 12 points - all coming from beyond the arc.
 
Then, in the district semifinals, Gilmour lost to Warrensville Heights 54-51. The team played hard the entire game and fell behind in the final minute. Kirincic finished with a double-double that included 24 points and 11 rebounds. Charleston chipped in 14 points as Gilmour ended their season with a 17-7 record.

In further boys basketball news, the team had five of its players earn Northeast Lakes All-District honors. Charleston and Kirincic were both Second Team selections and O'Toole, Mario Grk '18 and Owen O'Toole '18 were Honorable Mention picks.
