Middle School Girls Basketball Competed in Independent School League Tournament

The Middle School girls basketball team concluded the regular season with wins against Cornerstone Christian 38-17 and Ridge 37-35.

Against Cornerstone, the Lancers were led by Angelina Lonardo '22 (pictured) with 14 points, Giana Lonardo '22 with 11 points and Mary Lombardo '22 with eight points.

Then against Ridge, the team was able to play in Athletic Center’s Lancer Gymnasium. Gilmour was pumped for the game and, despite only having five players, came at their opponent with intensity and determination. Trailing by one with 30 seconds to play, Lombardo grabbed a key rebound, dribbled to the outside and hit Angelina Lonardo on the arc for a clutch 3-pointer that sealed the two-point victory.

The Lancers then headed to the Independent School League Tournament on Wednesday, where they lost to Andrews Osborne 37-29 in a first-round game that saw all players score. Giana Lonardo '22 led the way with 12 points. The team then beat Canton Country Day 53-22 in the consolation game. Again all players scored in the win with Isabella Martin '22 leading the offensive attack with 14 points.
