Girls Prep Hockey has Busy Weekend in Michigan

This past weekend, the girls prep hockey team traveled to Michigan for three games in a 24-hour period. In the first game against Little Caesar's, Gilmour jumped out to an early lead with goals by Ellie Heller '19 and Ani Fitzgerald '19, but the opponent answered with two goals to tie the game at the end of the first. Neither team scored in the second period. The third stanza began with two goals by Little Caesar's. A Gilmour powerplay goal by Jasmiina Vaatainen '19 began the rally, then Morgan Miller '19 scored with 3:41 left in the game, where it would remain tied for the duration. Bella Pignatiello '18 (pictured) gave an outstanding effort in the game.

Gilmour's next two games were against Meijer U19. In the first meeting, Gretchen Klens '19 scored what would turn out to be the game-winning goal. Gab Venne '18 earned the shutout with a brilliant performance in net. In the finale, the game was played at Munn Ice Arena on the campus of Michigan State University. The Lancers lost 4-1 with the only goal coming from Heller. While it was a tough battle on the ice, it was an amazing experience to play at a Division I ice arena where so many NHL greats also skated.
