Boys Basketball

The varsity boys basketball team earned its first win of the season this past week against Cornerstone Christian 93-73. The Lancers raced out to a 45-point first-half total. They finished the game with an incredible 85 field goal attempts, as well as 23 free throw attempts. Connor O'Toole '20 (pictured) led the offensive attack with 29 points, followed by CJ Charleston '19 with 25. A total of 11 Gilmour players scored in the game with key contributions of nine points each made by Ian Miller '20Garret Olsen '20 and Kevan Pack '20. The Lancer defense did a great job, forcing its opponent into 20 turnovers.
 
At the junior varsity level, Gilmour defeated Cornerstone Christian 65-28. Michael Snelling '21Kyle Jackson '21, Vinny Bandwen '21 and Austin Harris '21 led the team in scoring. Defensive pressure applied by Jackson bothered the Patriots all night, as the Lancers forced 25 turnovers. Teddy FitzGerald '21 hit a big three in the fourth quarter and Ryan Mueller '22 also contributed with double-digit scoring. 
 
The freshman team lost to Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin 52-47 last week. Mick Hopkins '22 led the way in points and rebounds. Gilmour took an 8-0 lead to begin the game, before falling behind by 11. The team was able to cut the deficit to just one point late in the fourth quarter, but was not able to earn the win.
