Varsity B Blue/16U

The Varsity B Blue/16U team went 1-3 this past weekend against some tough competition. The Lancers hosted the Pittsburgh Predators 16U AAA team, losing 3-2 and then winning 5-3. John Kohanski '21 (pictured) and Jack Popovich '22 scored in the loss as Jeremy Sturm '21 totaled 27 saves. In the win, Popovich scored twice to lead the team as Dylan Stefan '21 had 29 saves. Gilmour then traveled to Pennsylvania for a two-game series against the Pittsburgh Hockey Academy (PHA) Icemen 16U AAA team, which is ranked No. 57 nationally in Tier 2. The Lancers lost both games by a score of 3-2. Stefan saved 71-of-77 shots in the two games with four different players scoring goals, including Kohanski, Zach Mangel '21Tate Simpson '21 and Jack Starr '21.
 
Weekend Plans: Gilmour hosts the National Junior Prospects Hockey League (NJPHL) Cleveland Showcase this weekend with top-ranked teams visiting Gilmour Academy, Cleveland Heights and Kent State University to play four games each. The Lancers have three of their games at the GA Ice Arena, including: Friday at 10 a.m. vs. Jimmy John’s 16U Red from Detroit, Mich., who is nationally ranked No. 22 in Tier 2; Saturday at 1:30 p.m. vs. Oakland Jr. Grizzlies 16U Gold from Oakland, Mich., who is nationally ranked No. 3  in Tier 2; Saturday at 8:30 p.m. vs. Atlanta Kings 16U from Atlanta, Ga., who is nationally ranked No. 83 in Tier 2. The Lancers also have a game at Kent State University on Friday at 4:20 p.m. vs. Victory Honda Selects 16U from Canton, Mich., who is nationally ranked No. 19 in Tier 2.
