The varsity boys and girls swim teams competed in the non-scored Swim for a Solution fundraiser meet at University School this past weekend in order to raise money and awareness for autism. Some notable performances included first- and second-place finishes in the girls 200 Medley Relay; first- and second-place finishes in the girls 50 Free by Grace Valenza '20 and Anna Frank '20; a first-place finish in the girls 200 Free Relay; and first-place finishes by Cate O'Haimhirgin '20 in the 100 and 50 Breaststroke. On the boys side, Matt Vanone '20 won the 50 Fly and was third in the 50 Backstroke as the team's top performer of the day.
 
The team then had its first official meet of the season at home on Tuesday against University School and Hathaway Brown. The girls lost in a close effort 97-73 with three first-place finishes, including Valenza (200 IM), Celeste Koerwitz '19 (500 Free) and O'Haimhirgin (100 Breaststroke). The Lancers also totaled seven second-place finishes, including the Medley Relay of Meadow Hynd '19, O'Haimhirgin, Kylee Radigan '22 and Valenza; the 200 Free Relay of Radigan, O'Haimhirgin, Frank and Valenza; the 400 Free Relay of Koerwitz, Frank, Hynd and Abby Meyer '21; as well as individual finishes by Koerwitz (200 Free), Frank (50 Free), Valenza (100 Free) and Radigan (100 Backstroke).

As for the boys, they were defeated by US 121-30. The team had five second-place finishes, including Vanone (100 Fly, 100 Backstroke), Michael Cerer '19 (100 Free), Carter DiVincenzo '19 (100 Breaststroke) and the 200 Free Relay of Vanone, Alexander Figurella '22, DiVincenzo and Cerer.
 
Weekend Plans: The Lancers head to Cleveland State University to compete in the all-day Viking Invitational on Saturday, December 8.
