Girls Prep Hockey

The girls prep hockey team was off this past weekend, but just prior to Thanksgiving break traveled to Canton, N.Y. for its first league weekend in the NAPHA Prep League.

In the weekend opener against Shady Side Academy, Julia Beaven '19 (pictured) played incredible in the net and recorded a shutout in the 0-0 tie. Then against Trinity College, Beaven gave another tremendous performance to earn a 3-0 shutout. Ani Fitzgerald '19 scored the first goal of the game with a minute left in the first period on an assist from Jasmiina Vaatainen '19. Gilmour kept the momentum going into the second period with a goal from captain Morgan Miller '19 with assists from Gretchen Klens '19 and Ellie Heller '19. Klens got the third and final goal of the game on an empty net in the third period.

In a tough 3-2 loss to Kings Edge Hill School (KES), the Lancers fought hard and had great puck movement throughout the game. Klens scored both goals for the Lancers, including one to tie the game at two. Assists were recorded by Bella Sprang '21 and captain Maura McKeown '19. Gilmour lost the final game of the weekend 3-0 to Rothesay Netherwood School (RNS). Samara Walji '21 had an outstanding performance in net and kept the game within reach.

Weekend Plans: The Lancers travel to Toronto to compete in the Two Nations Tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
