So many words to describe the final game of the varsity football team's season, but one that is definitely at the top of the list is wow! The Lancers ended the season in a triple overtime thriller against Orrville in the Division V Region 17 semifinals. Anyone attending last weekend's game most likely counted the Lancers out after witnessing a sluggish first half. But, as was the theme all season long, the Lancers never gave up and played as a team to mount an exciting comeback that saw regulation end in a tie. The team then fought tooth and nail to score in the first two overtime periods. With several key players forced to the sidelines due to injury, other players stepped up and rose to the challenge. Unfortunately, Gilmour was unable to find the end zone in the third OT period, losing the game 50-43. CJ Charleston, the Fox 8 Friday Night Touchdown Player of the Year, totaled three touchdowns and 251 yards on 28 carries. He also had a two-point reception. Jack Krebs '19 had one touchdown with 94 yards and 13 carries. Michael Snelling '21 had a rushing TD as well as a touchdown reception. The defensive unit had standout performances from Jack Kosar '19Michael Cerer '19Aidan Muchnicki '20 and Josh Miavitz '20. The Lancers finished the season with an overall record of 11-1.

The All-Northeast Lakes District football honors were announced this week and Gilmour had eight players receive accolades. Charleston nabbed Offensive Player of the Year honors and was a First Team selection. Armand DiPuccio '19 received First Team honors for his offensive efforts, while Cerer, Kosar and Krebs earned defensive First Team honors. Max Mendels '19, Miavitz and Muchnicki were named to the Honorable Mention list.
