Girls Hockey

Prep Hockey:

This past weekend the girls prep hockey team traveled to Detroit for the Two Nations Tournament. The Lancers played five games, finishing with a record of 2-2-1. The first win came against the Alaska North Stars, 4-2. Goals were scored by Lexi Nguyen '20Morgan Miller '19Ani Fitzgerald '19 (pictured) and Gretchen Klens '19. Goalie Julia Beaven '19 had a great game in net and the team's Hard Hat honor was presented to Nguyen, who also had an assist. The second win for Gilmour was a 4-0 shutout against the Philly Jr. Flyers. Fitzgerald opened the scoring early in the first period. Ellie Heller '19 scored in the second period before Fitzgerald scored again in the third along with Miller. In net, Kayleigh Geary '20 was tremendous. Alex Boser '19 worked hard in both the offensive and defensive zone, giving maximum effort the entire game. 

The Lancers' third game of the tournament resulted in a 1-1 tie, with GA's lone goal courtesy of Fitzgerald. After regulation, Gilmour and the Madison Capitals 19U team went into a five-minute overtime period that didn't yield a score for either team. Beaven was outstanding in goal. In game four, Gilmour had a physical game against Brampton, but found themselves on the losing end, 2-0. Then in the final game, Gilmour lost 5-2 to the Minnesota Flow. Beaven and Geary split time in the net, both playing great games. Both of Gilmour's goals were scored by Fitzgerald with assists from Boser and Miller.

Gilmour Gladiators U16:

The Gilmour Gladiators U16 Tier 1 Girls team also traveled to Detroit for the Two Nations Tournament this past weekend, finishing with a 2-3 overall record. They dropped their first game 1-0 to Flamborough and their second game to Kingston 5-0. In game three versus Ironbound Elite from New Jersey, the team posted a 4-1 victory. Maggie Dean '22 had a goal and Quinn Hartmetz '21 had an assist. In game four, against a tough Canadian team from Hamilton, Ontario, Samara Walji '21 stood tall in net and stopped 43-of-45 shots in a 2-0 loss. The fifth and final game of the weekend was a Gladiator win against the Chicago Fury. Defenseman Elijeanne Turgeon '20 took a hard slap shot from the point and Dean put her stick on it quickly to redirect it into the net for the lone goal of the game. Then in the final seconds, Dean won a key face-off to secure the win.
