Cross Country

Another week, another championship for the Lancer cross country program. This time both the boys and girls teams earned North Coast League (NCL) White Division titles, running in their inaugural seasons as league members.

The boys ran first on the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School course and finished with five runners in the top 10 spots. Tim Diemer '19 took home first place in the division, crossing a split second before Tyler Clark '19 in second. Connor Gerspacher '19 was fourth, followed closely by Bryson Simpson '20 in fifth. Cole Durdella '20 placed 10th, while Garret Tomasek '20 (15th) and Carter DiVincenzo '19 (17th) rounded out Gilmour's scoring. The boys totaled 22 points, which was 25 points ahead of second-place VASJ. First Team All-Conference honors were earned by Diemer, Clark, Gerspacher and Simpson, while Second Team honors went to Durdella and Tomasek.

The girls took the course next and were one spot away from shutting out the field in the White Division. Katie Engle '19 was the top finisher in the division, followed by Caitrina Barton '21 in second, Alannah Barton '19 in third, Mary Lombardo '22 in fourth and Jorja Hlifka '20 in sixth. The first-year duo of Madeline Martino '22 (eighth) and Ava Moe '22 (10th) rounded out the scoring for the Lancers who totaled 16 points, which was 34 points ahead of second-place St. Thomas Aquinas. Every squad member earned All-Conference honors, with Engle, the Barton sisters, Lombardo, Hlifka and Martino getting First Team nods, and Moe garnering Second Team honors.

Weekend Plans: The Lancers prepare to defend their district championship title on Saturday at Canavan Elementary School in Medina. The boys race begins at 11 a.m. and the girls begin at 12:30 p.m.
