Prep Hockey

The girls prep hockey team finished a tough weekend of games with a record of 1-2. On World Girls Ice Hockey Weekend, which is celebrated around the world, Gilmour hosted Meijer U19 AAA, Syracuse Nationals U19 AAA and Meijer U16 AAA for games at home.

The Lancers dropped the first game to Meijer 3-2, in a tough and physical matchup. Julia Beaven '19 was very strong in net, making 32 saves. Goals were scored by Abby Zenone (PG) (pictured) and Morgan Miller '19. After the game, both teams joined in prayer at center ice lead by the Meijer team to remember and honor the lives of Juliana Ward-Brown and Darian Locklear, two young and vibrant members of the Meijer organization, killed in a tragic car accident last season.

Beaven again had a strong showing in net, making 29 saves. Gilmour's lone goal was scored by Gretchen Klens '19 with assists from Miller and Maura McKeown '19

Then on Sunday, the Lancers came out firing, scoring four unanswered goals in the first two periods. Syracuse responded with two goals in the third period, but could not catch Gilmour who earned the W by a final score of 5-2. Goals were scored by Miller (2), Ellie Heller '19, McKeown, and Lexi Nguyen '20Kayleigh Geary '20 was very strong in goal and secured the win for the Lancers.
