Volleyball

The varsity volleyball team lost earlier this week in a match against North Coast League (NCL) opponent Lake Catholic, which is also ranked No. 15 in the latest Division II state poll. The match went all five sets with the final set ending in a close 15-13 loss for the Lancers. Kathryn Randorf '22 had some great kills to help lead the team. Gilmour is currently ranked No. 9 in the state among Division II competitors and recently was voted as the No. 1 seed in the OHSAA Division II Gates Mills Sectional/District Tournament. The Lancers earned a first-round bye and will play in the sectional finals on October 18 at 7:15 p.m. against the winner between Cleveland Central Catholic and St. Martin De Porres. Gilmour Academy will serve as the host site for this tournament and will feature 11 games, with the champion of the district advancing to the regional level. Fans planning to attend the tournament games at Gilmour are reminded that Gilmour Family Athletic Passes are not valid for free admission to any postseason match, even those held on campus. This is in accordance with OHSAA regulations. Tickets will only be sold at the gate, which will open one hour prior to the first match start time. Here is the complete tournament bracket.

Weekend Plans: Travel to Brunswick High School on Saturday to support the Lancers in their final regular season triple header. The freshman game begins at 9 a.m., followed by the junior varsity game at 10 a.m. and the varsity match at 11 a.m.
