Cross Country

The varsity cross country teams traveled to the Trumbull County Fairgrounds to wrap up the regular season at the Legends Meet. The boys took the course first and finished second to rival McDonald in a field that totaled 18 teams. The Lancers were led by Tim Diemer '19, who finished third individually, followed by Connor Gerspacher '19 in seventh and Bryson Simpson '20 (pictured) in eighth. Cole Durdella '20 (13th), Tyler Clark '19 (14th) and Garret Tomasek '20 (62nd) rounded out the Lancer attack, which finished 36 points ahead of the third-place team.
 
The girls toed the line second and came away with a team championship out of 18 schools, their second top honor in as many weeks. Katie Engle '19 led the race wire-to-wire to win the individual championship, making a clean sweep of top trophies in the girls' race. Caitrina Barton '21 took fifth overall in a superb effort. Alannah Barton '19 (11th), Mary Lombardo '22 (12th), Sophia Garofalo '21 (25th), Jorja Hlifka '20 (32nd), Madeline Martino '22 (50th) and Ava Moe '22 (77th) all ran with grit and determination to seal the win over rival McDonald by three points.
 
Weekend Plans: Head to Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School and cheer on the Lancers as they compete in the North Coast League Championship beginning at 10 a.m.
