Boys Lacrosse Battles Hard, Loses Two Last Week

The varsity boys lacrosse team suffered two tough losses last week, but battled and showed improvement in key areas including riding and clearing. The team began the week playing undefeated Holy Name (Parma). The Green Wave jumped out to a 4-0 first quarter lead and held an 8-2 halftime advantage. Gilmour kept fighting in the second half, but lost 5-12.

Defenseman Trey Stein '19 had an outstanding game, scooping six ground balls and recording his first career goal. Midfielder Ryan Mullee '18 did his usual solid work at the face off, winning 10 draws, while attacker Ricky Roberts '20 netted two goals. Defenseman Josh Miavitz '20 gathered four ground balls and goalie Zach Henry '18 (pictured) had a good game recording 10 saves.

The Lancers closed out the week at Chardon. Gilmour grabbed a commanding 6-3 lead heading into halftime. Mullee was all over the field, winning eight face offs. He also scored a hat trick and scooped up four ground balls. The second half tilted Chardon's way as its goalie and defense came up with big stops to shut out the Lancer offense. A Chardon goal with two minutes remaining sealed their come-from-behind win, 7-6. Henry was spectacular between the pipes, booking 10 saves.
