Softball Ranked No. 10 in News-Herald Top of the Crop

The varsity softball team went 1-2 last week, defeating Beaumont 7-4, and is 6-3 overall with a No. 10 ranking in the News-Herald Top of the Crop. Molly Murphy '18 pitched a complete game to earn the victory, giving up only two earned runs and striking out two. She is 3-0 on the season. At the plate, infielder Katie Forsythe '18 had an average of .500 for the week, raking in five hits, two doubles, five RBI, four runs and one stolen base.
 
Infielder Emma Gurley '18 (pictured) hit .455 with three doubles, one home run, five runs and eight RBI. She was named News-Herald Player of the Week for her outstanding offensive performance. 
 
The team is gearing up for its annual Swing for a Solution Game on May 2 to raise money for and awareness of autism. The Lancers host Lawrence School at 4:45 p.m. at Parkview Field, which is located at 300 North Commons Boulevard, Mayfield Village. A concession stand will be open, with all money collected going to Autism Speaks.
