Softball Starts Strong

The varsity softball team is out to a 5-1 start this season, with wins this past week against Hathaway Brown, Laurel, Beachwood and WRA. The team's only loss was an 8-6 effort against Trinity. Priscilla Richardson ’19 is owning the leadoff spot in the team's lineup, putting up a .737 average with an on-base percentage of .750. She has a team-high 14 hits with 11 runs scored and two stolen bases in six games played. Emma Gurley ’18 is also off to a hot start offensively, with an average of .538, which includes team highs of 14 hits, four home runs, three doubles, one triple, 13 RBI and 12 runs scored in the six games. Emma Bizay ’21 is hitting .500 in the six games with 10 hits, including two doubles and a triple to go with six RBI and two stolen bases. On the mound, Molly Murphy ’18 (pictured) is 2-0 with fellow pitchers Katie Forsythe ’18, Bizay and Emmy Klika ’21 earning one win each. Klika leads the staff with 19 strikeouts.

The JV team is 1-0 with its recent run-rule victory against Cleveland Heights.
