Moot Court is a unique learning opportunity whereby students learn the skills needed to compete in mock legal trials. Students involved in Moot Court are competing not only against other high school teams but also pitting their knowledge and oral argument skills against real State Supreme Court Justices. They must show that they are capable of achieving all of the Gilmour outcomes: effective communication, critical thinking and problem solving, leadership and moral responsibility. They must also have a thorough knowledge of all the legal precedence associated with their position and be able to cite various legal cases on the spot based on the questions that they receive from the panel of judges.

Gilmour’s students were not only the first to win the state tournament in 2014 when the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education established its program for high school students, but they have been the state champion for the last two years.
