Summer break is an excellent opportunity for curious, motivated students to explore new passions, enhance skills, forge lasting friendships or even earn college credits. To find the best match for each student, the Summer Opportunities process involves five steps, managed in conjunction with our Coordinator of Academic Extension.
  1. Opportunities are announced and posted schoolwide.
  2. Students meet individually with the coordinator about their interests, passions and curiosities.
  3. Students complete an interest questionnaire.
  4. Together with the coordinator, students research and discuss personalized options for the summer session.
  5. Students discuss desired options with their families.

Opportunities are matched on the following criteria: student interest, physical location requirements (i.e. close to home or far abroad), compatibility with other summer activities, length of time and cost. Some programs are highly competitive and require essays, letters of recommendation or transcripts, while others admit students based upon curiosity, talent or motivation. Our Coordinator of Academic Extension will also help students to manage deadlines—in most cases, two weeks are required to process each application, particularly if additional documents or recommendation letters are required.
