Gilmour Hosts World-Renowned Pianist for Master Class and Concert

Tuesday morning, Gilmour welcomed world-renowned pianist Andreas Haefliger. He spent the first period of the day facilitating a master class with 10 of our students, providing expert advice on posture and techniques to hone their skills. Haefliger then graced students from all three divisions with a beautiful performance in the Chapel. Take a look at pictures from the master class and concert.

Born into a distinguished Swiss musical family, Haefliger grew up in Germany, attended the Julliard School in New York and went on to perform with major US orchestras including the New York Philharmonic; Cleveland Orchestra; Los Angeles Philharmonic; Boston Symphony; and the Pittsburgh, Chicago and San Francisco Symphony Orchestras. In his native Europe,  too, Haefliger has appeared with the great orchestras and festivals – such as the Royal Concertgebouw, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Orchestre de Paris, London Symphony Orchestra and Vienna Symphony.

Opportunities such as these are possible because we are a Steinway Select school thanks to the generosity of Matthew P. Figgie '84, Figgie Capital and The Figgie Foundation.

All are invited to witness Haefliger's musical genius on Thursday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. at EJ Thomas Hall in Akron. Purchase tickets here
