Junior Brings Gilmour Mission to Life While Helping Children Halfway Across the World
Each month, students have the opportunity to propose an organization to raise funds for through a Gilmour Dress-Down Day. Last school year, Gia Hilal ’24, the daughter of two Syrian immigrants, organized a dress-down fundraiser for the Saint Rita Foundation for Children, which provides support for children living in Syria. The fundraiser brought in more than $1700, which allowed 100 families living in Daraa, one of the poorest cities in Syria, to receive food baskets. Saint Rita's was so moved by Gia's efforts that they put together this video showing the distribution of these food baskets, which Gia shared at Convocation on Thursday. Way to truly live the mission, Gia!
